Remi is an AI that lives within Amazon Echo devices and the Remi Band that's built specifically to help Alzheimer's patients, caregivers, and doctors. Since independence is a major personality trait that becomes lost as the disease progresses, Remi helps to restore independence to those living with the early stages of Alzheimer's, with the overall goal of prolonging the need for an around-the-clock caregiver.
The Remi band comes in 4 stylish colors and features a heart rate monitor, a screen that displays the time and upcoming events, and GPS location services. It is made out of a flexible and durable polyether rubber material similar to that used in many sports watches. This also means that it’s water proof. The clasp boasts a surgical-grade stainless steel fastener, making for a product that's built to last. With the built in microphone, patients can truly take Remi on the go.
The Remi app helps track Alzheimer's patients location, manages medications, and provides verbal cognitive games for the patient to download. There is a support chat available for caregivers and daily tips on how to relieve stress. The app also helps connect caregivers with doctors as it sends the data it collects to doctors to help track the patient's progression with Alzheimer's disease.
Most of the advertising for Alzheimer's focuses on the negative effects including memory loss, confusion, and a feeling of loneliness. Remi's advertising on the other hand is bright, fun, and approachable. The "Big memories" campaign supports the idea of how remembering little moments are significant for everyone affected by Alzheimer’s (whether patient or caregiver).
